Dear Pete, Anke, and the team at Watercolours! :)

On behalf of my friends and I, we’d just like to thank you guys for a fantastic diving experience at Perhentian (13th – 17th of August ‘08)! Everyone was so friendly and the briefings/debriefing sessions were always something to look forward to! I’d like to extend a special thanks to Robert who really made my open water course much easier and more enjoyable with his patience and guidance (Thanks also for teaching me the sign language underwater for 'bulls**t' hahaha, will come in handy *grins*) You can bet that I’ll be making my yearly pilgrimage back to Watercolours where I was ‘born’ to dive again! :)

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the following staff at Watercolours for the wonderful experience we had during our stay there from 19-21 July

Special thanks to the following

Sam and Mark were extremely patient in answering my never ending questions about our trip logistics and the land transfers.

Peter and Anke for constantly checking to make sure we were happy divers, setting the safety rules and shared a lot about marine conservation.

Maarten and Robert, who provided excellent dive guide services. Our group consisted of mostly beginner divers both of them always accompanied my friends up to surface due to headaches or because of low on air situation. Unlike other dive instructors who would either ask the divers to go up themselves and/or watch the divers surface while they watched from below. It was certainly very reassuring for my friends to be accompanied by the instructors up to surface.

They provided very detailed pre and post dive briefing in my 11 years of diving, this is the only centre I came across which actually does a proper and detailed post dive after every dive where we discussed about what was seen underwater, their behaviour, interaction with the other marine life and even poured through picture books. The group ratio to instructors was kept at 1 instructor to 4-5 divers.

Rest of dive crew were always attentive and helpful when we were struggling with equipment, hunting for food or requiring further assistance.

We will certainly be back again.

Dear, dear staf,

we'd like to thank you for the great time we had in your divecenter en resort. What a time we had, making 13 dives each, enjoying every part of it. The Impiani was a peacefull and quiet place to stay where you forget easily your 'other stressfull life'.
We thank Eva for the pictures, they are great.
Thanks to everyone (no names, ohterwise we forget one) for the extra knowledge of the natural life under water and that makes diving more fun than it already is.
Your divecenter is very good organized (with comliments) and the equipment is in good condition, we felt save
This morning we came back and now we have to ga back to normal life . That will be hard. We hope to come back sometime and we'll tell others about you.

Dear Team and staff of Watercolours,

We just got back to the concrete city of Singapore and already missing all of you in Perhentian Island!

From the day we arrived to Watercolours Impiani, we were taken cared by the excellent service provided by Din and his staff. It's the laid-back but attentive attitude that is so refreshing especially coming from a city life like, Singapore.

Our diving experience with the team at Watecolours Dive Centre were unforgettable. Your team of Instructors are very professional and friendly and your equipments are in excellent condition (unlike other dive centres). We did our 6 dives and all of them left lasting impression on us, especially on our Temple of the Sea 1st underwater photo taking experience. Here we would like to thank Guy, RJ and PC and the rest of the team for making us felt welcome and confident.

We will surely make another trip down to stay and dive with you as you have treated us like friends and make us felt like home....... so till we meet again, thank you to all the Watercolours team and staff of Impiani. Sampai kita jumpa lagi

I would like to thank you all for the great time I had getting back on diving with you guys, special thanks to Sarah and Robert !

Your team of young, nice and professionnal diving instructors, as well as the weekly REEFTALK taught me a lot on local marine life, and I am now of fan of nudibranchs, thanks again to Robert.

I would like also to warmly recommend anyone travelling around to come here to enjoy the beautiful sights.

Hallo Anke, Pete und die ganze Staff von Watercolours
Aus den geplanten 4 Tagen wurden 10 Tage, uns gefiel es so gut bei eurer professionell geführten Tauchbasis, dass wir von Malaysia gar keine anderen Tauchplätze mehr sehen wollten
Loved the pancakes, the Pizzas and the Debriefings.
Conny fühlte sich unter Wasser so wohl, dass sie kaum Luft brauchte, und schlussendlich mit der 8 Liter Flasche mehr Luft hatte als Pete!
Was great diving with all of you guys.

A huge thanks to Pete, Anke and all the staff at Watercolours! Had a fantastic week diving, relaxing, canoeing, snorkelling, etc.

Watercolours Dive Centre: Really enjoyed taking the Advanced Course with you all. A very professionally run operation with very thorough procedures. Probably the most insightful dive briefings and de-briefings I have ever experienced. Really enjoyed exploring the wrecks.

Hi watercolours team! We just got back to Paris from an amazing ten days spent on Perhentian island learning how to scuba-dive. First we want to thank our expert diver and charismatic instructor Sarah who made our open water course and first steps into scuba-diving unforgettable! This led us to stay on for a series of diverse and truly amazing dives (thanks Robert and Marcus for being great dive masters and wonderful underwater guides!). We really appreciated the personal, caring and professional way in which we were introduced to scuba-diving by the whole team. The fact of going through briefings and debriefings before and after dives and sharing our experience truly enriched each dive and enabled us to learn so many things about marine life (i.e. how to socialize with trigger fish or their smaller counterpart, white damsels ). Many thanks to Pete for taking the time to chitchat and share your diving experiences and recommendations with us. Thanks to Nick for being our French connection at watercolours! We have been so enthralled by the whole experience that we are now thinking about making our future vacations very much about diving... It truly has been a wonderful time. I am Ilya Houben from the Netherlands. I am owner/webmaster of a very popular Dutch travel website about Malaysia. I noticed the post at this weblog, and wrote a Dutch article about it:

In August 2006 me and my girlfriend visited Perhentian for the first time. Before that we visited Malaysia numerous times. At Perhentian we got our first diving course at Watercolours. Our dive-instructor was Marc (Mark?), a very good and nice divemaster. We had a wonderful time at Perhentian, memories that last a lifetime.

We also encountered some less fun things during our visit, I stumbled upon a bucket with baby turtles. They were sold right out of the bucket at a small beachshop. I could not imagine anybody would buy a young turtle, though the fact that they were for sale wasn’t that good at all.

Good efforts, let’s hope it really pays off…

My wife Rhian and I just spent a wonderful week diving in the Perhentian Islands with Watecolours. We are not massively experienced divers but have used many dive operators in Thailand, Australia, Carribean and the Red Sea but Watercolours were head and shoulders above all of these. They are professional, caring, had good equipment, were good value and above all provided reliable, safe, friendly service. Sarah, pir dive master, was a complete angel. I have a feeling we will be going back sometime....

Boy, do we feel like special and very lucky people. We have just had a fantastic week staying with a great bunch of people. A friendly welcome greeted us at Impiani as we are shown up to our room with a view to die for. There is the sparkling azure sea framed by the overhanging branches while a white-bellied sea eagle soars above and a monitor lizard rustles below. And a truly professional team has looked after us at the Watercolours dive centre where we have spent most of the daylight hours (and some of the night too) And wow, have we seen some stuff � there is something for everyone from reefs to wrecks, from the smallest nudibranchs & shrimp to the excitements of huge schooling jacks & rainbow runners (Honestly, just everything on the big silver fish page). And in between all that eaten absolutely yummy food. Pete & Anke and all your crew thank-you for letting us do what we love the best.

Thank you so much for one of the best week's I've ever had and for introducing me to the incredible world of diving in such a friendly, professional and environmentally aware way. (And for helping me to overcome my nemisis of mask removal!!!). Everyone at Watercolours went out of their way to make all the students & customers feel really welcome and involved from the initial briefings to the pancakes when we got back.
The only problem now is I wonder if anywhere else is going to measure up to the Watercolours standards!!!

Thankyou Peter, Anke, Julia (my excellent Advanced Open Water instructor), and all the others I had the privilege of diving and eating fish curry with last month at the rough, promising beginning of a new season on Perhentian. For friendliness, enthusiasm, expertise and value for money, Watercolours must surely be hard to beat anywhere in the world. The underwater spectacle is there too: sharks, talang queenfish, a Vietnamese shipwreck, weird rock gullies full of sombre groupers and gaping moray eels under coasts of gigantic rain-smoothed boulders and primeval forests. Recommended.

Nach 12 Tagen die wir auf Perhentian Kecil im Impiani Watercolours Resort
verbrachten sind wir von Landschaft und Vielfalt der Unterwasser und
Tierwelt begeistert. Es gibt hier gottseidank noch keinen Massentourismus
und man kann hier alles direkt vor der Tür finden , ich hoffe das dies
auch weiterhin so bleibt nicht zuletzt Dank eurer Initiativen. Nochmals
vielen Dank für toll organisierte und geführte Tauchgänge an die ganze

This was one of the best places myself and my students have ever stayed. The food was tremendous and the owners were more than hospitable. So if you like a real natural adventure in place with kind, attentive people then you can do no better. And while you're here, take a trek or two into the beautiful unspoiled rainforest on this island. Then return to your comfortable room and listen to the waves lap against the shore all night.

I arrived back from my long weekend at Paradise Island Resort/Watercolours last night, and I feel completely and utterley relaxed.

I'd like to thank everybody for making my three day stay at Perhentian Besar and absolute treat.

The accommodation was great, the food was fantastic, and I'd like to extend a special thanks to Luke, Nick and Robert for making my diving experience at the islands interesting, informative and fun.

Just returned home after a fantastic few days - we had a wonderful time. Please pass on our thanks to Dean and his team at Impiana they were all very attentive and looked after us very well.

Also thanks to Luke who took us for a dive and very patient, being my first dive for awhile. I cannot recall your colleague's name who took Justin & Lisa for their Introductory dive. They came backed 'pumped up' and now focused to complete their Open Water. (That was no minor achievement as Lisa was not enthusiastic to dive).

From our first contact to book the holiday, during the stay and our departure today was a pleasure to work with yourself and your staff. We all look forward to staying with you again.

We are just back home from our wonderful trip in Malaysia …We are the two Canadians (Patrick and Genevieve or Gen!). We had an amazing experience with you guys at Watercolours. Resort was good, diving was excellent ! We will remember forever this dive to Terembu Tiga with 25-30m visbility ! We have a French traveling blog and we already sent you at least 10 friends.

We will have to come back … special request ! FISH HEAVEN we missed it two times …. Grrr...

Special thanks to Nicolas, our advanced course instructor, who was very professional and helpful. He transmitted us his passion for diving and we feel like dive-o-holic now !!! Merci Nicolas !

Thanks to all our guides and staff …very professional, good equipment, no rush and always a smile ! Finally, by the way, I am a professor in environmental education in Canada (University of Quebec in Montreal). I was VERY VERY impressed with your Reeftalk initiative. In my point of view, education with divers/snorkelers/travelors/local communities is THE solution for the preservation of reefs. I was so impressed I am currently looking for funding in a research project about environmental education with local communities dealing with diving tourism.

Hi Peter,

I believe Robin wrote a glowing testimonial to Watercolours but as the group leader, I would like to thank Anke, yourself and the wonderful team for the truly enjoyable and memorable trip.

The crew has managed all our dive schedules despite this peak of peak season and did their best to look into our numerous and ever changing requests from our members. We were truly surprised and touched by the efforts to ensure our groups were kept small, even splitting 6 divers to 2 groups so that we get the fullest attention.

We always had very comprehensive pre dive briefing and post dive debrief sessions by passionate and very knowledgable dive instructors/masters from Marteen, Robert (Mr Nudi branch expert), Mike, the dive site guru, Richie the fish lover and another Peter who spotted so much life underwater that all of us suffered from information overload! Everyone in our group agreed this was by far the best dive briefings we went through in our years of diving elsewhere.

it is heartening to see a dive operator who demonstrated the keenness and support in conservation of our precious resources and educating divers about the fragile environment. Peter, your reef talk was really great and wished we had more time to learn from you.

Keep up the good work and we sincerely look forward to returning back to Watercolours again.
