Flying is one of the fastest increasing causes of global warming due to the carbon emissions from aeroplanes. Travelling by bus or train in a more environmentally friendly way to travel. If you do arrive by aeroplane then you can neutralise your carbon emissions and help minimise global warming by calculating output and donating to a reforestation programme. Please see http://www.carbonneutral.com/cncalculators/flightcalculator.asp for details (also calculates domestic flights, eg Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu).
How to get to the Perhentian Islands
There are three offices in Kuala Besut (ferry port) that we recommend to buy your ticket to the islands. They use fast speedboats to get you here quickly:
- Our preferred choice is Bahtera Layar Abadi, which is signed from the main road.
- Also good are MD Traveller Enterprise (opposite the Nan Hotel on the main street).
- An agent that uses our Watercolours office at the end of the main street can also help you.
The ticket cost is now RM 70 per person return.
Please see our FAQ section to find out when the ferrys run.
Please note that there are no money changing/withdrawal facilities Kuala Besut.
